WHAT IS "PRESENTATION FAITH IN ACTION?" 'Presentation Faith in Action' is a program that you will actively participate in during your Year 11 Religion and Life classroom lessons, in addition to the SCSA Year 11 Religion and Life General Syllabus.
Modelled on the Presentation value of Social Justice, you will come to understand that social justice is all about us, as a community, recognizing and acting upon the power that we have for making positive change. You are vital in driving, leading and creating change in our modern society. The young people of today are the future of tomorrow. It is essential that we, as your teachers, provide you with a moral compass by which to conduct your lives. Real-world problems, multiple perspectives and emotional connections between you as students and social justice issues are at the heart of the 'Presentation Faith in Action' program.
This website will be a platform for guiding you through a series of workshops and an inquiry-based style social justice project that TOUCH your hearts, INFORM your minds and TRANSFORM your actions, now and in the future, as Presentation People.

PROJECT CONTEXT: As your teachers, we are given the very important responsibility of preparing you for life beyond school. It is our hope that you will leave the College as global thinkers, with a cultural tolerance of diverse people and backgrounds and that you will understand that role that you play in being about to address issues in our society such as inequity in education, privilege and wealth.
We believe that one of the best ways to teach you what has been termed 'cultural literacy' is through social justice, and empowering you to effect change through awareness, advocacy, activism and aid. We understand that you learn best when you have an emotional connection with an issue, and for this reason, we have chosen a social justice issue that, as you learn more about it, will definitely pull on your heart strings.
The issue that we have selected for you is YOUTHHOMELESSNESS.
You will work collaboratively with other students in your class on a 'Social Justice' project, which will, in essence, involve you actively participating in THREE parts.
PART 1: Understanding Youth Homelessness in Australian society
Background Information
Key Messages about Youth Homelessness
Understanding Homelessness
Stereotypes
The real faces of youth homelessness
The extent of the issue of youth homelessness
PART 2: The Catholic Church response to Homelessness, as a social justice issue.
Reasons why religions respond to social issues in our society
The Catholic Church response: teachings and biblical foundations
Contemporary examples of the Church in Action in regards to this social justice issue
PART 3: Making Change and Taking Action: Adding Student Voice to the Issue
Brainstorm ideas of what students could do to help/raise awareness.
Work in small groups to plan and prepare a student presentation of your proposed 'Social Justice' project to share with your class. The class will then vote on the project that most touches their hearts and you will work collaboratively as a whole class to achieve the desired outcome.
Present your project to an invited guest.
Evaluate the 'Social Justice' project experience, and reflect on how it has impacted you, as a whole person and Christian disciple.
Majority of the materials you will need to complete this 'Social Justice' project will be available on this Weebly. Your teacher will provide you with any additional resources. The buttons below follow a weekly sequence with instructions on what to do in that workshop.
